is absent in the honest telling of this tragic personal story, and
the recognition of hope and appreciation for life throughout
A Tribute to Anne Frank - Anna
Steenmeijer & Otto Frank
Many people share their reaction to "The Diary of Anne Frank"
through letters, artwork, books, performances, memorials. Comment
- I recognized how a story can serve as a vehicle for truth and
healing
The Home Front: Germany - Charles
Whiting
Daily life is transformed in a shockingly short period of time
by Hitler and his followers. Comment - I was shaken by
the vulnerability of youth, how easily they were misled and
victimized to the point of betraying their family values and loved
ones
Hidden Children - Jane Marks
A number of individuals tell their stories of loss during the
Holocaust.
Comment - It was astounding to reflect on the incredible
extent of suffering and loss throughout the Holocaust... the fear,
insecurity, mistrust that continued for years afterwards
Hannah’s Suitcase - Karen Levine
A teacher and group of students make a great discovery through a
search for answers about the Holocaust. Comment - I was
inspired by this example of how we can learn from history
The Night Trilogy - Elie Wiesel

One of the world’s greatest scholars and thinkers shares his
memoirs, and invites us into the depths of his struggle to exist in
an imperfect and troubled world. Comment - I was moved by

mankind
Strangers in Their Own Land: Young
Jews in Germany and Austria Today - Peter Sichrovsky
Children of survivors and perpetrators of the Holocaust share
their stories, their journey to understand the truth and cope with
revelations of the past and their personal heritage.
Comment - These stories raise important concerns and issues about
healing and working for peace.
Inside the Third Reich: Memoirs -
Albert Speer
An educated architect struggles with his personal deception
under the reign of Hitler. Comment - I wondered what
individual qualities and motives would cause a German citizen to
turn toward evil.
A Holocaust Reader - Lucy Dawidowicz
Discrimination and persecution of the Jewish people has occurred
throughout the course of history. As steps were taken by leaders in
governments, organizations and churches, that ultimately led to the
Holocaust … countless people turned away. Comment - I was
reminded that even the very smallest acts of injustice and
indifference are extremely dangerous.
